lesson 13

1. One of the treasures you'll find here is the Japanese Tea Garden.

2. It was originally developed for the 1894 International Exposition.

3. After the event, the Hagiwara family was commissioned to care for it.

4. They did so faithfully for many years, until their internment with many other Japanese during the second World War.

5. Today the garden is still beautifully maintained.

6. And despite the crowds it's worth visiting for its interesting design.

Lesson 16

Your child is reflection of your soul, a free spirit with no limitations.
But tensions within the family can damage her confidence, affecting her future.
Fortunately, Family Advocacy offers programs
that can help diffuse family conflicts before they escalate or lead to violence.
They can teach you how to resolve family problems.
So you can spend your time on more important things,
like enjoying your family.

Lesson 17

Carrying around a lot of cholesterol could be quite a burden on your system.
Reducing the amount of cholesterol in your food will help.
But most of the excess cholesterol that ends up in your blood
comes from the saturated fat you eat, not the cholesterol you eat.
Choosing foods low in saturated fat will do much more
to keep the cholesterol in your body at a healthy, manageable level.
And that can make a world of difference in your life.

Lesson 18

Tomorrow is your big day.
Yep, I'll be having my last cigarette.
I've been planning this for weeks.
When are you going to quit?
I'm working up to it.
I wanted to do something special tomorrow to mark the occasion.
Help me decide.
Flush those cancersticks down the toilet.
That's good.
Send all your smelly clothes to the cleaner.
When you decide to quit smoking, it helps to set a date.
Plan for it, and then celebrate your last cigarette.
I'll take you out to lunch.
No smoking allowed.
All right.

Lesson 19

Once there was a tortoise and a hare who both needed to lose some weight.
The hare decided the best way was the fast way and practically starved himself.
The hare became weak and lethargic and lost his get-up-and-go,
not to mention his muscle mass.
The tortoise ate moderate portions of a variety of foods and lost weight slowly,
about a pound or two a week.
The moral is if you're trying to lose weight, keep it to a pound or two a week,
because slow but steady wins.

LESSON 20

It's not the fastest roller coaster in America.
It's also not the longest.
Located at the Libertyland Amusement Park in Memphis, Tennessee,
the Zippin Pippin built in 1915, is the oldest operating roller coaster in America.
Known as a woody, the hills and curves of the Zippin Pippin
rest on a huge wooden frame.
The creaking of this wooden frame as the car races over the tracks,
is what makes it a favorite.
In fact, the Zippin Pippin was one of Elvis Presley's favorite rides.
2684 feet long with the maximum drop of 70 feet.
It takes 90 seconds to ride.
That's 90 seconds of pure, white-knuckle, heart-pounding fun.
The Zippin Pippin, America's oldest operating roller coaster.
*
Operate : to work
woody : something made of wood

The word of God is living and active.
Sharper than any doubled-edged sword,
it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit,
joints and marrow;
it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.
(Hebrews 4:12)
